We are specialists in booklice removal
Our services cover booklice removal in Leeds, Huddersfield and all surrounding areas.
Booklice are usually found in warm, damp areas of buildings where they feed on mouldy food, plaster, leather, wood, damp cardboard, or book bindings. They avoid light and prefer temperatures of between 25°C and 30°C. Outbreaks are common when there is a long period of warm, humid weather.
Adult booklice are tiny cream, brown or grey insects, usually wingless, and around 2mm long. Pre-adulthood, they are very small and often appear transparent.
The problems they cause:
Booklice are unrelated to parasitic lice and don’t bite humans or animals, spread disease or damage household furnishings. They may, however, give you a mild skin irritation. Some make an irritating tapping noise by banging their abdomen against paper or wood.
How we treat them:
The first step is to remove all infested materials and any visible mould. We then finish the process by applying insecticide. A few treatments may be required.
- Before beginning any work, we’ll do a full survey and risk assessment to determine the best approach.
- All our technicians are trained by the BPCA (British Pest Control Association), the RSPH (Royal Society for Public Health), and the Property Care Association.
